Consistent company growth has fostered full-time opportunity for a High Voltage Protection Technician to join our expanding team!

This role is subject to national travel on a project-by-project basis. Applicants either need to live locally or be willing to relocate. Powertech are happy to discuss relocation costs from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning, testing and maintaining:
    • HV Protection systems / schemes, communications
    • HV Substations secondary systems and primary plant
    • HV/LV Plant/Assets
    • Power Generation Systems
    • Power Transformers.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, technical support and training to technicians.
  • Preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.

Experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Must hold QLD Electrical (or Fitter and Mechanic) Workers License.
  • Engineering Degree or Diploma in Power Systems (highly regarded).
  • HV Switching Ticket preferred.
  • Experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout viewed favourably.
  • Knowledge and understanding of appropriate Australian and International Standards, as well as relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule and budget requirements.
  • Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience using the Omicron suite of equipment for secondary system testing.
  • Power Station experience (highly regarded).
