Consistent company growth has created an opportunity for a Senior High Voltage Technician to join our expanding FIFO team on a permanent full-time basis.
This role is subject to national travel on a project-by-project basis. Applicants either need to live locally or be willing to relocate. Powertech are happy to discuss relocation costs from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Candidates who can demonstrate a high theoretical and practical knowledge with a wide range of HV primary plant and especially secondary systems are required.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Protections systems / schemes.
- Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV Substations secondary systems and primary plant.
- Commissioning, testing and maintaining various HV and LV Plant/Assets.
- Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Generation Systems desirable.
- Commissioning, testing and maintaining Power Transformers.
- Provide technical support and training to technicians.
- Provide leadership and supervision to technicians.
- Competent in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, protection test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
Experience, skills and qualifications:
- Must hold a QLD Electrical Workers License.
- Advanced Diploma in Engineering (highly regarded).
- Minimum 5 years' HV Technical experience.
- HV Switching Ticket (preferred).
- Experience with IEC61850 and GOOSE messaging through IED Scout (highly regarded).
- Knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Proven ability meeting project quality and schedule, while promoting high standards of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven experience in using the Omicron suite of test and measurement equipment.
