Powertech Resourcing is a multidisciplinary commissioning organisation providing services to the energy and resources sectors throughout Australia.

Due to continued growth and expansion in the business, we are currently taking applications for (OFFSHORE) Safety Instrumented System (SIS) Commissioning Engineer to join our clients team in the Oil and Gas industry.
 

Offshore start date: 03/10/2025

Prior to this there may be a short duration in the clients office for training 2-3 days.

 

Details:

  • Oil and Gas client
  • Scope – Commissioning on our clients Offshore platform
  • Roster: 3 weeks on : 3 week off
  • Hours: 12 hours per day
  • Excellent $$$ rates
  • Superannuation paid on all hours worked
  • Duration: Until end of Year 2025, likely to be extended into new year
  • We are taking applicants Australia wide 

 

Previous experience with the below is Mandatory:

  • Yokogawa Process Control or/and
  • Training on & worked on HIMA HIMAX systems using SILworX programmes

Previous Offshore, Commissioning and Oil and Gas experience is mandatory for the successful candidate 

Must be based in Australia

 

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for SIS, including ESD (Emergency Shutdown), F&G (Fire and Gas), and PSD (Process Shutdown) systems.
  • Ensure SIS installation and configuration meets project and international standards (IEC 61511, IEC 61508).
  • Review and verify functional logic, cause and effect matrices, and SRS (Safety Requirement Specifications).
  • Perform loop checks, function testing, and validation of safety instrumented functions (SIFs).
  • Interface with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems during integrated testing.
  • Coordinate with construction, QA/QC, operations, and engineering teams to ensure proper completion of punch lists and commissioning milestones.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL validation, and performance verification activities.
  • Lead or support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) of SIS equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation: test procedures, red-line drawings, ITRs, and punch lists.
  • Ensure system handover to operations is completed with full documentation and compliance.

 

Experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in commissioning and start-up of SIS in offshore oil & gas environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety systems:
  • Yokogawa Process Control or/and
  • Training on & worked on HIMA HIMAX systems using SILworX programmes
  • Experience with major SIS vendors
  • Valid offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, MSIC, OGUK medical) – we can assist with acquiring most of these for the right candidate
  • Familiarity with completions systems
